Week three, we are reading:

Boo:
The Star of Kazan by Eva Ibbotson

The Wumster:
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

'T':
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

I think I ought to add that I have read a book in the last three weeks (well three actually, but my sons will review the Hunger Games series that I was literally attached to during the New Year and cajoled T into spending his book token on Mockingjay so I could continue reading it...erk...bad parent alert!)

My book, for any adult reading who wants to find new reading material, was 'The Eve Tree' by Rachel Devenish Ford.

It's a story set in rural California spanning three generations of ranch owners. They are currently under threat from a bush fire that is spreading rapidly. This book astutely looks at relationships and depression. I have enjoyed reading Rachel's blog for a few years now and thought I would give her book a go. I wasn't disappointed, there was a lot of what I've come to know as Rachel's personality and philosophies underlying it which I could relate to alongside the subjects of depression, family values and forgiveness.

Anyway, reviews later!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17686057978927588322noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-607521270230270549.post-11391418935359686402013-01-12T08:59:00.000-08:002013-01-18T11:22:32.722-08:00Week 1 and 2We need a quick catch up to let you know the current reads.
The kids will be on later to fill you in with their reviews to the books:

Boo:

Week 1: Daisy Star, Ooo La, La - Cathy Cassidy
I liked this book because it's about Daisy Star going to Paris. I like this book because it is an adventure.

Daisy Star, Pink Guitar - Cathy Cassidy
It's about Daisy Star joining a band and finding her hidden talent. Everyone wants to be a pop star!

Week 2: Sleepovers - Jaqueline Wilson

It is about five friends having sleepovers and Daisy makes best friends with Emily. This is my favourite book it has some really funny parts. I read this book a lot.

The Wumster:

Week 1 and 2: Catching Fire - Susanne Collins

I really, really enjoyed this book. I have read the Hunger Games and this is the next one in the series. I was often surprised about lots that happened at the second Hunger Games and I liked to find out more about Haymitch. There were lots of emotions in the book and things that made me sad or made me jump because I felt I knew Catniss and Peeter now.

'T':

Week 1 - Guardian Angel - Robert Muchamore
Cherub Agent, Ryan Sharma has been assigned to capture a family of illegal smugglers in Kyrgyzstan. I like how Ryan deals with the fact that his friend Ethan is a member of the family and wants to save him. I like how it shows how friendship and loyalty can be tested.

Week 2 - Re reading Class A as he read them in the wrong order - also Robert Muchamore

James, Kyle, Kenny and Nicole have been assigned to Drug dealers by befriending the drug dealers' kids. All is going well until James' birthday and one of the dealers' sons offer him and Nicole and Class A drug. It is a really gripping book.

52 books, 52 weeks and the challenge is on.
In the About us, section you will be able to meet the 'team' and they can let you know a little about themselves and what they like to read.
I will also aim to set up links to the books that they read, so that if you do choose to buy one of the books from their review, you can go via the link and the contributors to the blog will have some more cash to add to their 'books needed' stash.
If you have suggestions, PLEASE leave a note in the comments below
If you have a book to send, we are always grateful to receive suitable reading material, however, please don't be crude or use this to bomb us with spam, porn or anything completely offensive.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17686057978927588322noreply@blogger.com0
